Cancellation Policy: There is a five (5) business-day cancellation policy on all computer courses.  The entire fee will be charged for computer class cancellations made less than five (5) business days before the class.  Participants who cancel their attendance within 5 business days of the first day of class will be charged the full amount.  Departments are welcome to send substitutes.  In the event that a department refuses to pay, the participant will be responsible for payment.

Access 2010 Level 1
Cost: $75. General computer skill level: Intermediate. Prerequisite: A basic understanding of the computer’s operating system. This class introduces the basic skills necessary for creating databases with Access. It includes tasks to explore Access and create, work with, and edit data tables. Participants will also learn to create and use simple forms, queries, and reports and how to find, filter, and print data.

Access 2010 Level 2
Cost: $75. General computer skill level: Advanced. Prerequisite: Access 2010 Level 1 or equivalent experience. This class introduces techniques that give the student more control over tables, queries, forms, and reports in Access. It includes tasks to modify tables, set field properties, use operators in queries, design advanced queries, and create action queries. Participants will also learn to import, export, and link data, and how to compact and back up a database.

Access 2010 Level 3
Cost: $75. General computer skill level: Advanced. Prerequisites: Access 2010 Levels 1 and 2 or equivalent experience. This class introduces students to advanced features in Access. Tasks include setting up and working with relationships between tables and referential integrity, advanced form elements, such as modal dialog boxes, subforms, and navigation forms, and creating PivotTables and PivotCharts. Participants will also be introduced to SQL, macros and VBA code, learn how to use Access with Outlook to collect data via email, use Access with the Internet, and split databases.

Acrobat 9.0
Cost: $100. General computer skill level: Intermediate. Prerequisite: Basic computer navigation and mouse skills. In this course, you will use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 to make your information more portable, accessible, and useful to meet the needs of your target audience. Participants will use different applications such as Microsoft Word or Excel to create files in PDF format, which is useful when you are required to share your information electronically by email, over a network, or on the web. Also covered is the creation and use of interactive, editable forms that recipients can save or print.

Excel 2010 Level 1
Cost: $75. General computer skill level: Beginner/Intermediate. Prerequisite: An understanding of Windows. This class introduces the basic skills necessary for productive development of Excel spreadsheets. It includes navigating and setting up the worksheet, entering data, and working with ranges. Participants will also learn how to create simple formulas, copy and move data, print worksheets, and use page setup. Also covered are formatting numbers and text, as well as creating, formatting, and modifying charts.

This class covers file management tools and techniques for protecting and sharing your work. The student will learn how to process the power of functions for advanced calculations and use ranges in formulas. Understand error messages in formulas and learn how to fix them. This class introduces using a worksheet as a database, sorting, managing, and filtering data in a list. Additional topics include using graphics, SmartArt, and Sparklines to enhance your work.

Facing Word Fearlessly
Cost: $50. General computer skill level: Intermediate word processing experience. Prerequisites: none. This class is ideal for those with some word processing experience but who feel frustrated with Microsoft Word’s sometimes inexplicable behavior. Learn to reveal formatting in documents, change default font and paragraph styles, control what you see on the screen, and how to customize Word to create documents the way YOU think they should look. Understand how to control graphic objects, how to get headers and footers to “behave,” and how to control automatic formatting.

Mail Merge
Cost: $50. General computer skill level: Basic word processing experience. Prerequisites: none. This class is designed for those with some word processing experience who want to learn how to create mail merge documents with Microsoft Word. Tasks include linking a document to a data source such as an Excel workbook or an Access database. Participants will learn to build a database in Word, use existing databases, and create merged letters, labels, and directories. Also included will be merging to email and inserting Word fields to customize the merged document based on data criteria.

This class introduces the skills necessary to create and run a PowerPoint slide presentation. It includes tasks on exploring PowerPoint, getting help, using basic presentation skills, and creating and working with slides. Participants will also learn how to use the outline tab, edit and proof text, and print. Included are formatting bullets and numbers, using slide sorter view, working with graphic images and drawing tools, and viewing and printing the slide show.

This class covers many of the features that can make everyday tasks quicker and easier. Participants will learn how to manage word files and export to different file formats, create numbered and bulleted lists, use the research task pane, use built-in heading styles, format with document themes, and use mail merge. Participants will also learn how to section documents and work with columns, headers, and footers.
